Ready to plan a Wuthering Heights inspired trip to Yorkshire, England?

There are only a few places in the world that feel as intrinsically tied to a story as Yorkshire does to Wuthering Heights. The windswept moors, stone villages, and dramatic landscapes of this region of northern England have long been woven into Emily Brontë’s novel, and now, with the release of the newest film adaptation, it’s once again capturing the imagination of travelers.

I recently traveled to West Yorkshire to walk the cobblestone streets of Haworth and the moors of the Yorkshire Dales, which inspired the original novel and now feature prominently in the film. Being there, it’s easy to understand why this story feels so deeply rooted in this place; the atmosphere is as powerful and emotive as the novel itself.

So, whether you’re a die-hard literary fan, a film enthusiast, or just someone who loves dramatic landscapes, there’s never been a better time to ‘set jet’ to Yorkshire. It’s a destination where fiction and reality meet, and trust me, your trip will be unforgettable.

Let’s explore what jet-setting is and how you can plan the perfect film- or series-inspired getaway, starting with one of England’s most atmospheric destinations (including the hotel where the movie’s stars stayed during filming)!

What is Set-Jetting?

I discovered the Set-Jetting trend in the Expedia Unpack ‘26: The Trends in Travel report. In this report, Expedia highlights how travelers are seeking meaningful, story-driven experiences that inspire more conscious, creative journeys.

Set-jetting takes your love of movies and TV beyond the screen and turns them into your trip. Instead of planning a vacation around a city or country, you plan it around a story that you already love. You follow the locations that brought the film or series to life, experiencing the sights, sounds, and atmosphere that inspired the story itself.

Set-jetting is more than a single guided tour. While many destinations offer one-off “Game of Thrones” or “Harry Potter” tours, set-jetting goes even further with the story shaping your entire itinerary. Every stop, every view, every street can feel like stepping into the scenes you’ve only just imagined.

According to the Unpack ‘26: The Trends in Travel report, travelers are increasingly drawn to story-driven experiences that create more meaningful connections with the places they visit. And in 2026, few destinations will do that better than Yorkshire, a region that’s as cinematic, atmospheric, and story-rich as the Wuthering Heights saga itself.

Why Yorkshire Is Having a Set-Jetting Moment

Yorkshire is having a moment in the world of set-jetting, and it’s easy to see why. With its windswept moors, charming villages, and dramatic landscapes, this part of England has always been a source of inspiration for literature and film. But this year, it’s capturing the attention of travelers in a whole new way: through the lens of Wuthering Heights.

The newest film adaptation shines a spotlight on the wild, romantic landscapes that have already shaped generations of writers and creatives. Walking the same paths as Heathcliff and Catherine, from the cobblestone streets of Haworth to the rolling Yorkshire Dales, travelers can experience firsthand the beauty, isolation, and drama that made this story unforgettable.

Set-jetting isn’t just about checking off locations; it’s about stepping into the story. And West Yorkshire, with its perfectly preserved historic towns, misty moors, and stunning countryside, provides the perfect backdrop for that experience.

Tips for Planning a Wuthering Heights–Inspired Set-Jetting Trip

Now let’s take this inspiration and turn it into travel plans. I’ll start by sharing my tips for planning your own Wuthering Heights-inspired set-jetting trip, then dive into the best things to see and do, where to stay in Yorkshire, and wrap up with an 8-day itinerary that combines the romance of Yorkshire and the beauty of the Lake District.

How long to spend

How long should you spend set-jetting in Yorkshire? As always, this will depend a bit on what you want to do while you’re there, but I highly recommend spending at least a week, if not more, especially if you plan to visit the Lake District as well.

My husband and I did this whole trip in just five days, but as you’ll see at the end of this post, I’ve proposed an 8-day itinerary instead. While we managed to squeeze a lot in, it’s such a beautiful part of the UK, and I would have loved a few more days. Keep reading for a perfect itinerary at the end.

You could also add additional destinations in the UK, like a day in Manchester, Edinburgh, or London, but for that, I would highly recommend spending more than a week.

Getting to Yorkshire

Yorkshire is located in northern England. The nearest airport is Manchester, with flights daily from airports across the US. We booked our flights from Seattle to Manchester with Expedia. Alternatively, you could book flights to London or Edinburgh. From London, you could take a train to Manchester, or if you flew into Edinburgh, you could rent a car and drive down.

I recommend flying into Manchester or Edinburgh, but if you want to add London to your trip, you could always start or end there.

Getting Around Yorkshire

Once in Yorkshire, you’re going to want to rent a car. You could technically do the Haworth portion of the trip on public transport, but I’d still recommend getting a car. You’ll be grateful for the freedom, and if you want to go to the Yorkshire Dales or the Lake District, having a car is a must.

You can book your rental car with Expedia (that’s what we did, and it gave us the freedom and flexibility to explore the area on our terms).

If you’re coming from the US and you’re worried about driving on the left, make sure to book an automatic transmission. It means you’ll have less to think and worry about while navigating, and trust me, after a day or two, driving on the opposite side of the road stops feeling weird.

Best Time to Visit Yorkshire

As Yorkshire is in Northern England, the weather will be a major factor in planning your trip.  We visited in November, and we had cold days, fog, and wind-swept vistas. It matched the harsh beauty of Wuthering Heights perfectly, but if you want milder weather, consider coming at a different time of year.

For the best weather, you’ll want to plan your trip for summer, but like most places, summer is also the busiest time of year to visit. That’s why I actually recommend planning your trip during late spring. If you go around the end of April or May, you should have blooming flowers, sunnier days, and fewer people.

Where to Stay in Yorkshire

Yorkshire is a broad region in northern England, but if you’re planning a trip inspired by Wuthering Heights, it makes sense to base yourself in a few key places. For this itinerary, I recommend staying around Haworth and Hawes, both in West Yorkshire, near the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Haworth is where Emily Brontë, author of Wuthering Heights, and her sisters lived, and it’s impossible to walk the cobblestone streets without feeling their legacy. Just beyond the village, the moorland of the Yorkshire Dales provided much of the inspiration behind the original novel, and features throughout the new film.

I’ve also included hotel recommendations in the Lake District, as we added a few extra days to explore this national park. If your schedule allows, I highly recommend doing the same. Now, here’s where to stay for your Wuthering Heights–inspired trip – also linked in this collection for easy trip planning!

Haworth Hotels

  • Weaver’s Guesthouse: We stayed at Weaver’s Guesthouse in Haworth and couldn’t have asked for a better location. The guesthouse is charming and cozy, the owners were incredibly welcoming, and each morning we were treated to a delicious complimentary breakfast. We stayed in the ‘Double Room with a Parsonage View.’
  • The Old Registry, Haworth: Just steps from Haworth’s main attractions, The Old Registry is another excellent option. This traditional country pub and inn is full of character, and the historic decor alone makes it feel like a step back in time, perfect for a Wuthering Heights–inspired stay.
  • The Snug on the Cobbles: If you’re traveling with friends (or like a bit more space), The Snug on the Cobbles is a guesthouse that sleeps four, making it perfect for a friend’s getaway. With convenient on-site parking and all the amenities of home, this is another good option for your stay.
  • The Penny Bun: Located about 10 miles outside Haworth, The Penny Bun is worth the short drive if you have a car. I had to include it because it’s wonderful. With complimentary breakfast and gorgeous bathtubs in every room, this hotel feels like a peaceful countryside retreat.

Hawes Hotels

  • Simonstone Hall: This is the hotel we stayed at, but it’s also where the actors, including Margot and Jacob, stayed when filming scenes in the greater Yorkshire area. It was very cool to have the same experience as them in such a beautiful historic house. The complimentary traditional English breakfast was excellent.
  • The Green Dragon Inn: A classic country inn and pub, The Green Dragon Inn is exactly the kind of place you imagine staying in while exploring the Yorkshire Dales. Surrounded by greenery, it offers beautiful rooms and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels quintessentially British.
  • The Saddle Room Restaurant: Located near The Forbidden Corner in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, The Saddle Room Restaurant is a charming bed and breakfast that makes an ideal base for exploring the area. With free parking and on-site breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it’s a convenient and comfortable option for longer stays.
  • The Burgoyne Hotel: For something a little different, it offers a unique bed-and-breakfast experience. The rooms are quirky and full of personality, and the free traditional English breakfast makes it a great choice for adventures around the Yorkshire Dales.

the Lake District Hotels

  • Rothay Manor Hotel: This is the hotel we stayed at, and we highly recommend it. We loved the “Grand Room with the Garden View” with its beautiful decor and classic clawfoot bathtub. If you get a chance to stay here, definitely take it.
  • Holbeck Ghyll Country House Estate: Just a 10-minute walk from Lake Windermere, Holbeck Ghyll Country House Estate is a stunning option for a Lake District stay. Guests consistently rave about the full English breakfast and the sweeping views across the surrounding countryside.
  • Broadoaks Country House: With just 20 rooms, it feels intimate and personal. Built in 1836, this former manor has been thoughtfully transformed into a beautiful bed and breakfast, offering a quiet and refined stay in the heart of the Lake District.
  • Rothay Garth: Another countryside bed and breakfast near Lake Windermere, it’s a more affordable option without sacrificing charm. Located about a 10-minute walk from the lake, it’s a lovely choice if you’re looking for a classic country inn experience, something the Lake District does exceptionally well.

stops for your Wuthering Heights–Inspired trip in Haworth

As I mentioned before, Haworth is where the Brontë sisters lived, so there is plenty to do that’s been inspired by their lives and novels there. Here are some of the Wuthering Heights-inspired things I recommend doing while you’re in Haworth:

  • Explore the High Street – There’s just something about English high streets that I love, and Haworth is no exception. Their high street is so cute, with lots of stores and cafes to explore. Some of my favorites included the Cabinet of Curiosities, Hawksby’s, Wave of Nostalgia, The Store, and Chocolate of Haworth.
  • Visit St. Michael and All Angels’ Church and graveyard – Emily Brontë is buried here, under the cathedral, and her father was a pastor here, so it’s literally a place where you can step back in time.
  • Walk the Parsonage Lane – You can start in the village, walking the cobbled streets before circling up to the Moors for rugged and beautiful views.
  • Take a tour of the Brontë Parsonage Museum – this is where Emily and her family lived and where Wuthering Heights was written. If you travel in the low season, the museum is only open on weekends, so plan accordingly. It is, however, open on weekdays during the peak travel months.
  • Walk on the Moors that Inspired Wuthering Heights – You can take a short hike to Brontë Bridge and Brontë Waterfall. Other options include Alcombe Stones, Top Withins (said to be the model for the farmhouse in Wuthering Heights), and Ponden Kirk & Fairy Cave.

There are even places to eat in Haworth that take you back in time to the Brontë family for this Wuthering Heights–Inspired Trip.

  • The Black Bull in Haworth is a great place to have dinner. It’s famous because it’s the place where Emily’s brother, Branwell Brontë, used to go.
  • Haworth Old Post Office – This is now a delicious cafe that’s perfect for breakfast or lunch, but it’s where Emily originally would have sent off her manuscripts for print.

Wuthering Heights–Inspired Stops in the Yorkshire Dales

The Yorkshire Dales National Park is where many of the outdoor scenes in the 2026 adaptation of Wuthering Heights were filmed. The entire national park is beautiful, but we highly recommend making sure you have these stops on your itinerary:

While those are the top spots we could find for our set-jetting adventure, these are other things I would recommend adding to your itinerary:

  • Hardraw Force – England’s tallest waterfall, which costs £4 pp to visit.
  • Ivelet Bridge
  • Brough Castle – Incredible castle ruins, which cost £5.90 pp to visit if you want to go inside.
  • Pen-y-ghent and Ribblehead Viaduct on the Settle to Carlisle railway
  • Gordale Scar and Malham Cove – this is actually a hidden and spectacular gorge that’s seen in Harry Potter!
  • Richmond Castle – If you love castles, then you are in the right place, because England has an abundance.  Richmond Castle is a classic example of a traditional English castle. It costs £8.10 pp to visit.
  • Easby Abbey – Here you can visit the ruins of the old Abbey, take a walk in the surrounding walkways, and grab a coffee or tea at the Easby Loop Cafe.
  • Cotter Force Waterfall

And finally, make sure to have lunch at Two Dales Bakery in Reeth, we absolutely loved it.

Things to Do in the Lake District

Finally, the Lake District is the perfect detour for your West Yorkshire adventure. Not only is it one of the most spectacular parts of the UK, but it’s also been the inspiration for many books, movies, and series over the years.

Some of the things we did in the Lake District:

Who This Trip Is Perfect For?

This trip, of course, is perfect for anyone eager to ‘set jet’ into the dramatic landscapes featured in the new Wuthering Heights 2026 adaptation, as much of it was filmed here. But the appeal of Yorkshire goes far beyond a single film. Walking the moors feels like stepping back in time, into the world where Emily Brontë and her sisters lived, wrote, and created stories that continue to inspire readers and travelers today.

Yorkshire has long been a place of creative inspiration, and that feeling is impossible to ignore when you’re there. While exploring the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District, I often felt transported to another era. At times, it even reminded me of other shows like Outlander and Harry Potter.

Whether your trip is inspired by film, literature, or simply a love of atmospheric landscapes, Yorkshire is the kind of destination that feels genuinely magical.
