Why We Like The Stash Stove

The notion that we might have to sacrifice coffee on the trail in the name of saving pack space is just one that we cannot entertain. Luckily, Jetboil felt similarly and created the lightweight, compact Stash Stove to maximize space without sacrificing the iconic performance Jetboil is known for. In fact, this stand-alone stove is the lightest Jetboil system ever made, tipping the scale at just over seven ounces. That's like the equivalent of a pair of socks. The titanium burner and 0.8-liter FluxRing cook pot ensure a rapid 2.5-minute boil time for everything from a hot cup of Joe right when we wake up to a quick dehydrated dinner after a long day on the trail.

fast, lightweight and never fails

I LOVE the JetBoil stash. I have had every jet boil and every other combo of stove/fuel and the stash is the only one that never fails me. It is incredibly fast to boil, uses very little propane and is so lightweight. I have used it on several thru hikes and if something ever happens to it, I will for sure buy another one.

OK stove, but not what I expect from a Jetboil

While Stash may perform adequately in controlled settings, it falls short of my expectations. For users accustomed to the versatility and robustness of traditional Jetboils, the Stash strongly lacks the wind protection and stability and feels like a compromise in terms of functionality and user experience.

Could be great

I haven't used this in the field yet; however, immediately after opening it, I noticed a few small details that make this not a great item. 1. The handle doesn't lock in the closed position. I have another pot that I'm replacing, and the handle folds over the lid just like this one does, except on my other pot, the handle also locks in the 'closed' position. This is a great feature to help keep the contents of your cookset from spilling out into your pack (I usually pack my cookset on its side inside my backpack). 2. The lid doesn't snap on well, and I could see it falling off when I pour the contents of my boiling water out. I've read other reviews, and folks complained about this happening. This leads me to my next point... 3. Because the lid doesn't snap on well, it's not a dealbreaker for me. I could easily just remove the lid after my water is boiled; however, there is no handle to remove the lid. A small nub or something to grab the lid would have been nice. Instead, I think I'll fashion a little handle or something of the sort on the lid by using the coffee press hole that's there. I realize it's probably not fair to rate the item not having field-tested it yet, but I have enough backcountry experience to know what I will encounter when using this product. Therefore, I can only give it a 4.

Nice addition to camp set

Pros and cons - this guy is tiny. Great for two cups of coffee or maybe a can of beans but don't expect to make a meal for 4. I haven't had a chance to put this to use but was able to pull it out and set it up with ease. Putting it back together when done was a little tricky because of the ignition but nothing a little trial and error couldn't handle. Overall seems like a good investment for future camping/backpacking adventures (but I will probably still invest in a bigger campstove for the family camping trips.

This thing is super compact and light!

I've used the other jetboil devices and they're outstanding, but this really takes it to a new level of compact and lightweight. The way you can store the fuel canister inside it when carrying it is great, and ingenious. I think this would be a great first buy and a great tool for experienced backpackers/outdoors enthusiasts.

Great for an overnight kit on a hunt or hike if you get stranded. If your camping meals are simple this will handle it. Can’t say I’ve tried making an omelet or anything with it but I like the set up. Could use a stuff sack for the whole kit but you can find a small dry bag about anywhere that’ll work.

Fantastic product!

I have an old MSR that has been great and always works well but wanted to see how the stash held up to it. The Stash is slightly bigger but comparable in size. It definitely beat the MSR in performance. Boiled the same amount of water in half the time, using a variety of fuel sources. It is also more stable when on the burner which is reassuring. I’ve never done it, but the MSR always made me a little nervous because it just sits on top. I love my MSR because it’s been with me for a while, but The Stash is definitely my new go to! Highly recommend!

I am impressed by the Stash from Jetboil

The Stash has everything I need when I’m hiking solo. Or if we are in a group I can add an extra side dish to the meal! Also works great for backcountry skiing on long tours. It does the job and doesn’t take up too much space!

Small and mighty

The stash fits perfectly in my camping gear taking up less space than my previous jet boils. Despite the compact size the stash still provides the quick heating and versatility you expect with a camping stove.
